Realme, the Chinese company and part of the BBK Electronics conglomerate alongside Vivo and Oppo, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 200 million smartphone shipments. Established in 2018, this brand has managed to achieve this feat in just over five years, standing out as one of the fastest-growing smartphone brands in the industry.

Despite a slower initial year of operations, Realme has averaged over 40 million shipments annually. Its rapid growth has been notably fueled by its popularity beyond China, contributing significantly to its position as one of the fastest smartphone brands to reach this shipment volume.

The company’s strategy for this growth has been multifaceted. Realme has focused on providing affordable devices with features that surpass their price segment. For instance, the Realme 11 Pro has been well-received for its unique design, attractive display, and super-fast charging at an accessible price point. Additionally, Realme has ventured beyond the mid-range market, entering the premium smartphone market, evident in its upcoming release, the Realme GT5 Pro.

Looking ahead, the company plans to continue its growth trajectory by focusing on innovation and expanding its product portfolio. The mentioned Realme GT5 Pro, for instance, is poised to compete in the premium segment, featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and Sony’s new Lytia camera sensor. This emphasis on technological innovation is reinforced by Realme’s plans to significantly increase its investment in research and development in 2024.
